Phases of not just the overall plan, but also how information should be gathered/thought about. Making this was largely an exercise in what steps need to go when. Which aspects of the research project require simple gathering, and when is insight required for looking ahead? Forecasting as a whole can be an unstructured process of guesswork if not done properly, and as such some grounding for how and where to go is in order.
Some topics and potential scenarios are listed to give organization to each given level of thought.
Phase 1 functions as a preliminary intro - find the main ideas, where research will be aimed, and what areas to focus on.
Phase 2 is the initial research stage - involves looking into past methodology in related technologies, as well as current developments from those past methods
Phase 3 are new ideas - involves beginning the creative process, and cementing an understanding of current industry status, new technologies currently developing/just developed.
Phase 4 is predictive - what may happen. Develop main creative assets and begin outlining the project, but also look to the future - how is the technology changing? Trajectory of related industries?
Lastly, phase 5 is defined by a look-back - from the information gathered, what current conclusions are drawn? How has the past affected our current state in the industry? How is the future going to need to be handled in order to successfully implement it into the economy/society/daily life?
